I don’t know why I get such a kick out of stuff like this, but I do. A couple of days ago I signed up for a free account on Clustrmaps.com and they just drew up my first map. (See lower portion of the sidebar to the right.)
They do a very good job of explaining how it all works on their site. They are evidently experiencing major growth – and the associated growing pains – so updates are a little slow and I only got a partial day’s worth data on the first one, but I’m a happy little camper.

Hi Ariel,
Thanks for the tip. Clustrmaps has a competitor http://www.ip2map.com that only tracks if a blog visitor clicks their icon placed at a blog. This is far better!
There have been two subsequent updates now on my blog’s clustrmap and it’s a kick to see all the various places show up. What’s really fun, though, is thinking about all those connections being made all over the planet and the ideas that are spreading and being shared. The web is so cool.
Do you know if Clustrmap is tracking just hits to your main page or hits to the main page and hits to individual posts?
Thanks!
My understanding is, that if the html is in your sidebar, they collect data across all of your pages. My totals look consistent with that. Clustrmaps’ FAQ gives some alternate ways to place the html if you want to collect page data and do other things with it.
